TOLERANCE AMONG RELIGIOUS PEOPLE IN SOCIAL INTERACTION (STUDY OF MUSLIMS AND CHRISTIANS IN MUARO JAMBI)

The background of this research is the reality of life between Muslims and Christians in Kemingking Luar Village. Where the village has people of different religions but the people live in harmony and social interaction in their daily lives goes well between one another. The main problems of this research are; How is harmony between Muslims and Christians taking place in Kemingking Luar Village, Taman Rajo District, Muaro Jambi Regency? This research is a qualitative research using observation and interviews as well as documentation in data collection techniques.

After the researcher elaborated on the discussions on Inter-Religious Harmony (Study of Social Interaction of Muslims and Christians in Kemingking Luar Village, Taman Rajo District, Muaro Jambi Regency), the researcher got the result that; The Kemingking Luar Village community understands several values that are interpreted as harmony, such as; (1) There is mutual respect, (2) There is a sense of comfort and peace, (3) Not disturbing each other. Various forms of interaction are well established between Muslims and Christians in Kemingking Luar Village, such as; (1) Interaction at the celebration of Eid al-Fitr and Christmas, (2) Interaction in the social field, (3) Interaction in the economic field. Factors that support inter-religious harmony in Kemingking Luar Village are divided into two, namely: Internal Factors; (1) Understanding of Religion, (2) There is an attitude of openness. External Factors; (1) Environment, (2) Role of religious leaders. The factor that hinders the occurrence of inter-religious harmony in Kemingking Luar Village is the representation of religious adherents in running the wheels of village government.
