Ecological Behavior Of Society In Lake Sipin Tourism Environment, Jambi City

This research is motivated by global environmental problems which are increasing along with industrial developments and increasing population, especially in developing countries. The main problem in this research is: How is the community’s environmental ethics in managing the environment in the Lake Sipin tourism area, Jambi City? This research is a field research using observation, interviews and documentation in collecting data.

The results of research on the form of community environmental ethics in the Sipin Lake tourism area, Jambi City, namely; There are several forms of action taken by the people who live around the Lake Sipin tourist area in managing the environment, namely as follows: (1) Managing waste in an orderly manner, (2) Using lake water wisely, (3) Transferring Professions/jobs, and (4) ) Follow government advice. Factors influencing people’s actions. Namely: (1) Violating the Government; (2) There is hope for the progress of the tourism sector for the improvement of the people’s economy in the future; (3) Adequate access to education and interest in higher education, so that this causes many young people to start being literate about environmental issues; (4) The fast flow of information makes it easier for people to connect with new things, including about healthy lifestyles and environmental preservation. Then the authors found several positive impacts of community actions on the environment in the Lake Sipin Tourism area. Namely: reducing the volume of waste, improving the quality of lake water and increasing the number of tourists visiting the tourist area of ​​Lake Sipin.

Based on the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that the people who live in the Sipin Lake tourism area, Jambi city, have an anthropocentric perspective on nature. This can be seen from the actions taken by the residents which are very instrumental in nature by withholding human benefits from nature. Nature conservation is very necessary for the continuation of human life. this is legitimate and can have a good impact in the future if the practice of anthropocentrism is carried out wisely and not excessively.
